Please preview your post and use WikiFormatting when writing for Trac. Please also set the port field and Cc the maintainer when reporting a bug against a port. I've done this for you now.

The "no destroot found" problem can often easily be worked around by cleaning the port in question and trying again. This should also always be your course of action if you encounter a problem with a port. Please run 

sudo port clean libgcc

and re-run whatever operation you were running before.

    initial v2  
    11I am trying to install libgcc.  I reinstalled macports as indicated on your help page and removed all old ports.  I then tried to install a few ports including gnu plot, which worked.  However, when I try to install octave, at some point macports reports:
