Installed from sources w/o any problems. So looks like only binary archive affected.

The log you attached is not from a clean attempt. Please clean and try again.

Also, what is /Users/xeron/bin/tar and why is MacPorts trying to use it?

comment:3 Changed 11 years ago by xeron (Ivan Larionov)

This log is from clean php55-fpm installation.

Completely forgot about tar (was experimenting with dpkg port which wants to use gnutar). It's

bin/tar -> /opt/local/bin/gnutar

Yes, everything is ok with bsd tar. Sorry, my bad.

But why macports doesn't work with gnutar?

Resolution: invalid
Status: newclosed

The lines in the attached logfile that say "Skipping completed" indicate that it was not from a clean attempt.

MacPorts works fine with GNU tar (which was the system tar on OS X 10.8 and earlier) and BSD tar (the system tar on OS X 10.9 and later). I don't know why it's not working with your tar symlink, but that's not a supported configuration.

btw it works, but has this output with "Ignoring unknown extended header" which I believe results in failed installation

Tcl treats output on stderr by an executed command as a failure condition and aborts. The gnutar shipped in previous versions of OS X doesn't print these warnings. Please restore the original /usr/bin/tar as installed by the OS and run sudo port -f selfupdate to fix this.

Yes I've already done it. Follow up ticket about gnutar: #42492
