    11Well, we could obviously revert a commit which introduces these warnings for i386 builds of R.
    22That shall solve the practical problem, but then the patch has to be carried over.

     4UPD. FWIW, on `ppc` the error does not occur now. Just tested on Rosetta, R starts up normally now:
