Description

The wiki permissions of this trac are extremely restrictive. Even when logged in as a registered user, I am not even able to edit the sandbox. Is this behavior desired?

I second this one. I'd like to help out with documentation in addition to other things, but even when logged in, am unable to create new pages or edit existing pages.

I don't think we can do anything about this til we can keep prevent wiki spam by some technique.

Resolution of ticket #12595, which deals with trac accounts privileges management, would greatly help in this regard.

Right now, people who are not contributors/developers can only make tickets and comment on tickets. If they should be able to create/edit wiki pages, then thats certainly possible. I leave it to MP management to decide what authenticated users should be able to do. If MP management can monitor the changes and report the spam, we'll do what we can to filter it on the server end of things.

Assigning to MP management to decide.

I've been thinking about this issue and currently I don' think it's wise to open up our Wiki to non-committers. I get nausea just by remembering how we had to deal with massive amounts of spam on a daily basis back on the OpenDarwin Wiki.

I do, however, want to encourage non project members to contribute with stuff like documentation, tutorials, HOTOWs, etc. Please don't refrain from writing any text you think might help the project, and go ahead and submit it (them) as attachment(s) to tickets assigned to the Website & Documentation milestone.

Thank you for your understanding!
