Description
Steps to reproduce (on mac osx leopard):
- log on using SSH
- start screen
- detach and logoff
- logon again, screen -dr
At this point screen is in a weird state with the following symptoms:
- DNS requests do not work: cannot resolve domain.tld: Unknown host
- 'whoami' returns the uid of the user instead of the username
- sudo <somecommand> gives: sudo: uid 501 does not exist in the passwd file!

Leopard's built-in GNU screen (/usr/bin/screen) does not have such problem.
Mac OS X 10.5.6 Screen version 4.00.03 (FAU) 23-Oct-06
Just do a sudo port uninstall screen
.

I was able to reproduce the problem.
Maybe any of the patches from http://www.opensource.apple.com/darwinsource/10.5.6/screen-12/ is the solution for this.

I updated the Profile and patches in r45746, which should fix this problem.
