Description
As the discussion is stuck in #27757, I created this port which add mercurial as a real Python package.

But Python packages dependent on Mercurial won't work this way! (For example #29980, hggit and hgsubversion)

mercurial has been updated to use python 2.7; see #27757.

The current port is not py26-mercurial — add variants to mercurial if you want to be able to choose a python version to run it with.
