#3490 closed defect (fixed)

Portions of DarwinPorts Guide inaccessible.

Description

At least two sections of the DarwinPorts guide are inaccessible. If I go to the URL mentioned above and then click on either "I. Using DarwinPorts" or "Port Image Activation" (I.2.3), I get a "403 Forbidden" error -- I don't have permission to access /docs/pt01.html (resp. /docs/ch02s03.html) on this server.

Those are the only two pages I've found so far that produce this error, but I haven't tried everything in the guide.

This also occurs for "10. Testing and Troubleshooting" (/docs/ch10.html) http://darwinports.opendarwin.org/docs/ch10.html

Thanks to snu@ for fixing this bug, the pages should now be accessible! There seems to be something messing up the filesystem level permissions of the guide html files, so until that cause is corrected we're gonna have to keep on dealing with the consequences when they happen.

Finlay, should I close this bug or leave it open until things are cleared out? Should I assing it to someone in particular?

To be honest, I don't mind. Best solution would be to patch against the push script to forceably fix up the permissions as a final step, no?

I'd say that would be the real cure. So who should we ask? cryo@ , bbraun@ ... you? ;-) Should we Cc here? ask on IRC? I don't have admin access to Sancho so I can't do much about it...

Charlie, you mind having a look at the status of this? Last I checked all the sections of the guide were accessible, but inclusing snu's suggestion in the push script of a permissions fixing step as a "just in case" doesn't seem like a bad idea. Thanks!

I've done this. Can you check this and then the bug can be resolved.

I'm not sure whom you are asking to check this, but I (the original submitter) was able to access both the pages for I and I.2.3 when I checked not five minutes ago. So things are working as expected now, though I can't say anything about the infrastructure.

Resolution: fixed
Status: newclosed

OK, the guide is accessible and Charlie implemented a "just in case" fix, so I'm closing the bug. Should anyone have further problems, they can either reopen this or a new bug. Thanks Charlie!
