#40744 new defect

macports-built expect @5.45_4: crashes when used in a dejagnu testsuite

Reported by: cooljeanius (Eric Gallager) Owned by: macports-tickets@…
Priority: Normal Milestone:
Component: ports Version: 2.2.0
Keywords: Cc:
Port: expect

Description

crash log is attached. I tried forcing the use of the system expect, but the Makefile must've ignored it, because it went back to using the Macports one...

crash report for expect

You should probably report the problem to the developers of expect. The expect readme says how to submit a bug report.

This link 404s now, just FYI. The WayBack Machine has a copy: http://web.archive.org/web/20231218112115/https://expect.sourceforge.net/README.distribution. However, a lot of the info in it seems to be outdated.

It seems likely that bugs should be submitted at https://sourceforge.net/p/expect/bugs/

macports expect worked 100% normally for me last time I used it, on several different systems.

So before reporting anything you might recheck that the crash still happens, on this decades-old ticket.

Yeah I guess I didn't really provide enough information on how to reproduce the crash here; I can't remember the command I used that caused the crash in the first place... I guess this can be closed...
