I've just updated the port over the last few days and the documentation has not caught up. One of the dependencies still defaults to the old mysql5 port. You need to specify some variants to get the correct flavours:

sudo port install mythtv-core.27 +mariadb+mariadb55+python27+perl5_16

Let me know how it goes. As 'port notes mythtv-core.27' says, the database is now MariaDB 5.5 rather than MySQL 5.1. There are some changes and an additional step or two required to get Myth setup and ready to run. I'll put a note here when I've updated the docs...

OK, documentation is updated for both Myth and MythWeb. See:

http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/MacPorts

I'd be very interested to know how it goes on Yosemite. I think it should work fine but I don't have a testing environment yet.

I'm away until later this week, I'll post an update with the changes you have made on macports for Yosemite. Thank you

I did a clean install with the updated documentation. MythTV installed without a problem. Using Myth_Stop_Start, MySQL is not running, how to I start it? Thank you for your help.

You have to adapt from the instructions here:

http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/MacPorts#Terminal_and_PATH

That section of the cookbook assumes that the Myth was installed from the all-in-one installer and therefore is under '/opt/dvr'. Because you built it yourself using MacPorts, your installation is under '/opt/local'. Make sure your $PATH includes MariaDB, adapt the few file locations and you should be ready to configure Myth without too much trouble.

Let me know if something trips you up.

I followed the instructions and everything went well, MythTV is up and running. Thanks for your help.
