Description
the scipy project has finally started to release new code again. This is their replacement for the python library numeric/numarray, plus some extra functionality.

by the way, since a new version of scipy should be coming out relatively soon, should we just update py- scipy internally, or shall we make a py-scipy04? If we don't need the py-scipy04, then this port can lose the 04 as well.

hmm... I suppose that you have the most clue about py-scipy here AND are it's maintainer - you should decide what to keep and what to scrap;

I only see a py-scipy port currently in cvs, and the only other item related is bug 7621.
