Description

I didn't ask for it. But it keeps causing ugliness every time I upgrade a GNOME port.

Other busted dependencies seem to include at-spi, nautilus, gnome-control-center.

See also Bug #7026.

Oops. Make that "control-center" and "gnome-platform-suite" as well as at-spi and nautilus. (None of which do I want.)

eel is a library of extensions to the GTK API that are considered to experimental to include in libgnome or gtk. Many APIs are tested in eel before being migrated to GTK. evolution-data-server depends on it.

Almost no port should depend on control-center, but cleaning a port and testing its dependencies is a very time consuming task.

at-spi is an interface library for using accessability technologies. Unfortunately its dependencies structure is borked.

nautilus is the GNOME file-manager. It is over-depended upon when it shouldn't be.

gnome-platform-suite is the set of base techs that almost all GNOME software depends upon. Its inclusion insures that any gnome software that gets built is not hobbled and missing some feature that the developer is anticipating.

Is there a specific port that you need fixed?

If not, then I am going to close this bug as it provides no guidence as to what should be done.
