Odd. It built fine on Panther for me (which has SSL by default).

What platform needs this dependency?

I just checked by Ruby installation. There are no SSL libraries linked into Ruby. Are you sure your DP tree is up-to-date? The latest Ruby port builds fine on Panther for me.

Can you provide more details on what error messages or compile problems you are seeing?

Thanks. -rshaw

argh, i hate this bugzilla stuff....

I just checked by Ruby installation. There are no SSL libraries linked into Ruby.

[ward@log ruby-1.8.1]$ pwd /Users/ward/darwinports/dports/lang/ruby/work/ruby-1.8.1 [ward@log ruby-1.8.1]$ find . -type f -name openssl.\* ./ext/openssl/lib/openssl.rb ./ext/openssl/openssl.bundle That and the messages about ossl before the build died and that after installing openssl everything worked.

Are you sure your DP tree is up-to-date?

I did a cvs up -Pd yesterday.

The latest Ruby port builds fine on Panther for me.

That's strange.

Can you provide more details on what error messages or compile problems you are

+seeing? I've attached the build output. Ward

After some email exchange with Ward, it was determined that the actual problem was a bad openssl install in /usr/local that Ward had. However, during the course of investigating this, I found that some dependencies were missing, and I have added them to the Portfile.
